A short note on the paramount importance of keeping wheat-from-chaff score in this new post-American era
It's going to be more difficult than ever, but if a noble vision for humanity is to survive, it's essential
Thanks for upgrading to a paid subscription. Writing is my job. Your support of that means everything to me.
Only have time to dash off a quick one right now (gotta be downtown in an hour to interview somebody for an article), but I feel compelled to fit it in.
My outlook has change a lot in the last two hours. When I first got up and started perusing news headlines, the overwhelm had me feeling like hanging it up. Developments in the world stage’s hot spots continue unabated. The Very Stable Genius is wasting no time making cabinet appointments. The House and Senate are gearing up for touchy leadership decisions.
This is not the occasion for weighing in on Pete Hegseth or Rick Scott or any other particular figure being much discussed everywhere else this morning. I just want to reiterate some basics that actual conservatives will need to consult for guidance during this deluge of change.
Man, the time is getting away from me. Let me do it this way.
Laudable stuff going on
The move to get wokeness out of the military
Resolute affirmation that Israel is one of the US’s closest allies
Reining in the EPA
Lowering the nation’s tax burden
Getting rid of the Department of Education
Stuff going on that is bad
“America First”
Rampant use of crude language in our public discourse
Strong hints from the Trumpists that Ukraine will be handled differently that Israel
Refusal to level with the American people that the cause of our appointment with financial ruin is the unfunded liabilities of Social Security and Medicare
Trump’s pressure on Congress to use recess to hurry through cabinet appointments
You get the idea. I need to get going now, but I wanted to state something for the record before anymore jumbled developments came cascading down upon us.
